I don't know what my skin needs. What should I book?
"Deep Pore Mini Facial w/ Consult" under the Consults category or "Signature Facial" under the Facials category. You can book online.
Do you have examples of your work?
Yes! I have select photos online and am happy to share more with you in person.
What's the downtime for my service?
None of my services require you to stay home for any period of time. Some services may require temporary changes to your skincare routine. Mineral sunscreen of at least SPF 30 (reapplied every 90min-2hrs) is always recommended. We'll always go over specifics for you during your consult, service, and checkout. These are generic expectations:
Microneedling: up to 48 hours of gradually decreasing pinkness; 12-24 hours of no topical sun protection; 2-3 days of altered skincare routine. You may be told to use absolutely nothing on the area for the first 24 hours. A brief flaking or purging phase is possible in select cases. Total healing time is 7 days. Click here for the after care guide.
Chemical Peels: typically little to no redness immediately after service; altered skincare routine 7-10 days. Most of my peels will not cause large sheets or flakes of skin to peel off. Instead, dead skin flakes off in microscopic pieces, allowing you to have a more comfortable, less noticeable peeling phase. For peels with noticeable peeling, it usually begins 3-4 days after treatment and lasts 2-7 days depending on your specific service.
Skin Classic: up to 24 hours of initial redness; 1-4 weeks of altered skincare on the treated spots. Healing time (1-4 weeks), potential scabbing or texture changes, and color changes will vary based on the type of skin irregularity treated. We'll go over your specific expectations during your consult and at checkout.
Does microneedling hurt?
It can be uncomfortable, so we use topical lidocaine to numb the face before treatment. This ensures your treatment is still a relaxing experience.
Most clients are completely comfortable without numbing for the neck & décolletage, but you're welcome to add on numbing for those areas as well. This does add 20-30 minutes to your appointment time. Quicker services like spot microneedling or lip microneedling typically involve only a few minutes of microneedling, but you can add on topical numbing for those services as well.
How big is the needle for microneedling? What are we injecting?
We won't be injecting anything, and there are no syringes involved. We use 12 very short, very skinny needles as part of a single-use, sterile cartridge. The needles are attached to a pad that's attached to a pen. This pen vibrates and raises and lowers the pad very quickly (stamping) at a specified depth. This depth varies according to treatment goals, area of the face or body, depth of indented scars or wrinkles, and more. We apply serum and/or saline to the skin, then glide the pen tip over the skin in a pattern specific to your skin's needs. Here's an up close photo of the needle cartridge (with the safety cap on) and here's a photo of the pen.
Does Skin Classic hurt?
Without numbing, it can be uncomfortable, like a quick, hot "stingle." For most treatments, we use topical lidocaine to numb the area first. If we expect treatment to last only a few seconds, we may ice the spot before and after instead.
